John A. Gauci-Maistre

Chairman

John A. Gauci-Maistre K.M. is a Maltese entrepreneur and founder-CEO of the GM Group (Economicard Group).

 

He established GM International Services Ltd in 1974 and is widely credited with helping position Malta’s ship and yacht registry on the world stage. In 2022 he received a lifetime achievement award for his 45-year contribution to maritime services.

 

He was knighted by the Sovereign Military Order of St John in 2000.

Sarah Engerer

Head of Legal

Sarah Engerer is a Maltese barrister-at-law and the Head of Legal at GM Corporate & Fiduciary Services Ltd. She studied at the University of Malta, the University of Westminster and The University of Law (London), and was called to the Bar of England & Wales in October 2008.

Her practice focuses on regulatory, compliance and commercial work, and she has previously led legal/compliance functions for financial institutions in Malta. Beyond her corporate practice, Engerer has been active in Malta’s maritime/business community, including speaking at the Malta Maritime Summit.

Sebastian Davies

Head of Maritime Department

Sebastian Davies is Head of the Maritime Department at GM, leading ship and yacht registrations and day-to-day client operations across the Malta flag.

His team coordinates with Transport Malta, classification societies and registries, handling newbuild and resale registrations, reflagging, mortgages and ongoing compliance for owners, managers and financiers. GM’s maritime arm is a long-established specialist in these services, and Malta’s register is Europe’s largest.

Laura Fenech

Head of Finance

As Head of Finance at GM (GM Group), Laura Fenech directs the full finance function, supporting the group’s diversified work in corporate, fiduciary and maritime services. 

GM’s platform combines GM Corporate & Fiduciary Services, focused on corporate administration and financial-services support, with GM International Services, a pioneer in Malta’s maritime ecosystem.

Laura’s team underpins these service lines with robust processes, regulatory compliance and cash-flow discipline, helping sustain GM’s reputation for responsive, cross-border client service.

Daniela Gaffarena

Compliance Officer

Dr. Daniela Gaffarena is an Associate at GM Legal, advising clients on corporate and commercial law with particular emphasis on virtual financial assets (VFA) regulation and anti-money-laundering (AML) compliance.

Since joining GM in 2018, she has supported cross-border transactions and ongoing compliance programmes, and has written widely on developments shaping Malta’s regulatory landscape, from amendments to the Prevention of Money Laundering Regulations to the EU’s 5AMLD.
