07 / 08 / 12
The Grand Harbour is hosting the world’s largest solar powered catamaran which entered the book of records for having sailed around the globe without consuming one single gram of fuel. This visit is testimony to the ever increasing status of Malta and its harbour as a Mediterranean maritime hub. This visit adds to the list of attainments of Malta maritime Industry where this year the Malta Ship Register became the largest European Shipping Registry.
The solar catamaran MS Turnaror Planetsolar has a total of 500 square metres of high-efficiency solar panels and everything on board is powered by the sun. The catamaran will spend four days in Malta after which it will set sail to return to its home berth, Monaco.
