New Year, New Job? GMI is looking for Legal Professionals within different practice groups including Corporate, Commercial, Tax, IP, ICT, Residency and Citizenship and Maritime. You would be working with a highly reputable and well-established firm which provides professional services to businesses and private clients worldwide. The Group is looking for a Corporate Lawyer to head its Corporate Office, which supports all legal and regulatory requirements.  The position requires a motivated and organised team player with strong analytical skills and an excellent command of English and Maltese.

 

Requirements

  • In possession of a degree in Law
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Confident with an ability to stay cool under pressure
  • Attentive to detail
  • Able to work on own initiative and within a team

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting clients in company incorporation and maintenance, company structuring and restructuring;
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts on various areas of Maltese law, in accordance with clients' and company needs;
  • Providing assistance in relation to corporate governance and compliance procedures and requirements;
  • Conducting legal research on various points of law and providing consolidated legal opinions on queries.

Education and experience:

  • Candidates must be fully qualified lawyers and warranted under Maltese Law
  • A minimum of two years’ experience would be an asset for this role. Candidates who are completing their studies now but not yet in possession of their warrant are encouraged to apply.
  • Up to date knowledge of lineage GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) would be greatly beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy, contract law and bank legislation
  • Thorough knowledge of AML, Risk and Compliance procedures 

 

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
  • You shall need excellent interpersonal skills, both internally and with clients.
  • A client focused approach is required.

The selected applicant will work, with minimal supervision, with internal and external stakeholders, and submit meticulous work in a fast-paced environment.  The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, be results focused and be able to communicate effectively.
