Whilst congratulating Mrs Martinos for this prestigious award Mr Gauci-Maistre said that he was pleased that his company has been associated with the Martinos family since 1978. He then presented a Maltese handcrafted silver dghajsa, as a token of appreciation on this particular occasion.

On the other hand, Mrs Martinos thanked Mr Gauci-Maistre for his kind words and said that it has been a pleasure to collaborate with his company as it has always rendered a very proficient service. The company’s professional attitude has contributed directly to the Martinos group maintaining its relationship with Malta.

The Hon. Minister for Competitiveness and Communications, Mr Censu Galea, thanked Mrs Martinos for the support given to the Malta flag and wished her well for the future.  The minister added that he always advocated that the effort of Mrs Martinos should be recognized and it was with great regret that he would not be attending the presentation ceremony, as he had to attend the World Trade Organisation meeting in Hong Kong.

Ms Dorothea Tsimbukeli, the Greek Ambassador in Malta, expressed her gratitude for being invited for this special event particularly in view of the fact that the relationship between Malta and Greece is very strong and her mission here is to continue to enhance this relationship.  She was very delighted that such a well-known Greek shipping personality has been awarded this honour by the President of Malta.
